What is osteopathy? Osteopathy is an alternative Medicine. Its aim is to prevent and care for physical dysfunction with an application of gentle manual techniques. What makes it different? Osteopathy differs from other manual therapy in its philosophy and evaluation. An osteopath Is constantly searching for the root cause of physical dysfunctions, and because the body is made up of muscles, bones, organs, liquids and more, the therapist will assess all of these aspects in order to consider the body as a whole. This is called a holistic approach. What is the philosophy… Read More

Writing this last ‘official’ blog post was more difficult than writing the others. Partly, yes, because life just happens to be really busy for me these days. But I think in large part, I didn’t want to write it. Writing this post, following the last YTT weekend, it marks an ending. It also marks a new beginning, one that I am very proud of, but an ending in the more literal sense: our final weekend together as a group. Sure, we’ll see each other again, that I have no doubt,… Read More

This month was the first YTT weekend since our retreat. Upon arrival on Saturday morning, the room was charged with energy and excitement, even at 7 in the morning. Finding ourselves together in the same room again was a joy. There was also nervous energy, as we knew from pre-weekend emails, that we would be teaching this weekend. We started the day Saturday by discussing kriya yoga. Patanjali essentially described Kriya yoga as yoga for beginners. Not because it is easy, but because we know that the physical practice of… Read More

It’s taken me almost a full week to be able to even think about putting words down on a page about the amazing and transformative experience I had during our september YTT weekend and retreat.  On the way home, thoughts were jumbled in my head and emotions were jumbled in my heart. Before diving into the weekend, at least one paragraph needs to be dedicated to our hosts at the Centre de Vie Ripon, and the beautiful land they lovingly take care of.  The house and facilities are comfortable and… Read More

Since my last post in July, time kind of got away from me!  Summer ‘arrived’ for real, with vacations, BBQs with friends, visiting family – lots of fun things that helped balm the pain of the last few months. What is interesting about self-care, like daily yoga practice for example, is that sometimes, when things take a turn for the better in your life, it can be easy to put aside.  Although I have been trying to have a daily yoga and meditation practice since the beginning of this training,… Read More

Aaaaaahhhh… July.  A month of gorgeous weather, vacations and in my case new beginnings! As you likely know if you read my others blog posts, there have been some major shifts in my life in the last few months.  So much so that I missed the June YTT weekend to spend extra time with my sons, who needed it.  These last few months have been a roller coaster for me, with fear and pain as my sidekicks.  I am able to ride these waves, I keep busy, I smile, I… Read More

If you’re not marrying breath to movement, then it’s not yoga… Pattabhi Jois This second YTT weekend was EPIC (disclaimer: I think I might say this every month). I’m home now, sipping a glass of wine, and my mind is buzzing with new information. Let me break this down. But first, a thought on the community: I’m not sure where the magic comes from, is it the studio, the people, the yoga ? I don’t know. Every single person is wonderful. The YTT trainees, the mentors, the teachers, the staff,… Read More
