The Benefits of Massage

Massage is one of the oldest healing arts in the world dating back over 3000 years. The Chinese, Hindus, Egyptians and Persians documented their use and knowledge of this ancient art. Positive physical touch always creates an energetic shift in the body towards healing and relaxing both body and mind. Massage helps to release tension, relax tight muscles, improve joint mobility, impart a sense of calm and relaxation, and increase blood and lymph circulation, thus improving immune function. It is also known to stimulate endorphins, morphine-like chemicals that positively influence thoughts and feelings to align with healing at the cellular level. Massage has been proven effective in the treatment of a host of chronic conditions, including low back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, immunity suppression, stress, depression, and more.

Deep Tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as “adhesions.”)

Shiatsu Massage

Also known as “acupuncture without needles”, shiatsu uses pressure and stretching on the body. Shiatsu pressure is given with thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees, and sometimes feet. The pressure improves circulation of blood, fluids, and nutrients in the body, and stimulates the parasympathetic, or “rest and repair”, aspect of the nervous system allowing the body to heal. In this way, shiatsu is an effective therapy for treatment of specific complaints, for general well-being, as well as for relaxation.

Sport massage

Sports Massage is a specialized form of traditional Swedish Massage using pressure along with long, rhythmic strokes to relax muscles. Oils and/or lotions are usually used to reduce friction. With this massage, the therapist will usually concentrate on a specific area, specific to your activity, and may employ massage therapy trigger point techniques to help break up adhesions (knots) in muscles, thus improving range and flexibility. Swedish massage

Swedish massage is a dynamic massage technique that aims to dissolve tension and firm up both muscles and points of articulation. With an invigorating and relaxing effect, it can help to improve both blood and lymph circulation, while eliminating toxins and helping the body regain its natural equilibrium.

Therapeutic massage

The therapeutic massage is effective against physical pain is caused by stress: back pain, lack of energy, insomnia, has an action on the skin, but also on circulation, the nervous and digestive system, the heart, the adrenal function. It has a relaxing effect and acts on the stress and the muscular tensions useful against pain; it also favours a good blood circulation as well as on the joints.
