Top 5 Reasons to try a Mysore Yoga Class

Maybe you have seen these words before MYSORE YOGA on our class schedule, but you have never taken the opportunity to try the class because you are not sure exactly what it is.  The purpose of this blog is to help shed light on this beautiful, traditional practice of Mysore Yoga that we offer at Energie EnCorps and to encourage you all to try something new.

To begin with, Mysore Yoga is the traditional way that Ashtanga Yoga is taught.  Ashtanga yoga is the traditional yoga practice that all of our classes at Energie EnCorps is based upon.  It is a moving meditation, a sequence of poses strung together on the thread of a breath.  Almost like a one-room schoolhouse (shala in Sanskrit) students practice side by side on their own, but together.  The teacher is there is assist new students to learn the sequence of Ashtanga slowly and methodically.   Students are offered help with alignments, breathing techniques and are shown modifications to the poses to suit their needs. Unlike a led class students have the opportunity to stop and ask questions, repeat movements that they wish to practice or take a break when needed.  The benefit of Mysore is truly the individual attention, guidance and support of a skilled teacher to help them to deepen their practice and to learn.  All students of all different levels are welcome.  Come as you are.  IMG_0298

For those who are truly interested in making yoga part of their lifestyle, Mysore is a wonderful way to learn a personal practice that will stay with you forever.  We encourage everyone to try a Mysore class and to continue attending on a consistent basis.  Each time you come, you will build upon what you learned the last time.  With practice… your practice will flourish, your body will open up and your ability to focus will increase.
